Have you wanted to serve in the military? Were you medically disqualified at Military Entrance Processing Station, or better known as MEPS? If you have the patriotic-volunteer spirit, and commitment to serve and protect the State of New York (and meet our medical, education and good citizenly standards), you may be able to enlist as a Soldier in the New York Guard!!
Basic Requirements

Must be a United States Citizen.

Be in reasonably good health between the ages 18-60.

Ability to complete 1 week Basic Training within 1 year of your enlistment.

Be able to produce a New York State Identification Card or Driver's License, or that of another state within the connecting boundaries of New York.
What is the New York Guard?

The NYG is one of the four military organizations that form the New York Military Forces: the others being New York Army National Guard (NYARNG), New York Air National Guard (NYANG), and the New York Naval Militia (NYNM).

Since 1917 the New York Guard has existed as proscribed in U.S.C. § 109 and is under the Governor of New York.

The New York Guard was founded in 1917 to replace the National Guard, drafted in the service of the United States, First World War. It's lineage spans to the American War of Independence and the War of 1812.

Members of the NYG assist National Guard Soldiers and Airmen to serve the people of New York as members of Guard Joint Task Forces which respond to state natural disasters, state emergencies and state security requirements.

Unpaid volunteer force with PAID opportunities (Includes Housing and Subsistence Pay).

Members have served on 9/11, Superstorm Sandy, COVID-19 Pandemic, and NYC Asylum
Seeker humanitarian crisis.
Service Obligation
-
Commitment to serve as an emergency management professional, bringing your civilian acquired talents/skills to support the New York Military Forces.

Sign a three (3) year enlistment military contract with the State of New York (No overseas deployment).

Agree to participate and maintain a 75% average attendance for all drills, MUTAs, and Annual Trainings to remain in good standing.

Responsible for purchasing your own uniforms and replacement parts to keep it servieable.
